Glass Display
cases
Birds are by
the nature of their feathers, often delicate
and potentially easily damaged. This is especially
true of small birds, some birds of prey and
owls. The only exceptions to this are some of
the larger game birds and wildfowl such as pheasants
and ducks which have more robust plumage and
will stand up to regular light dusting.
I therefore recommend
that, if circumstances allow for it, most birds
should be set in a glass display case. A well
set up bird mount in a display case (If kept
out of direct sunlight and high humidity) should
last virtually indefinitely. Also the habitat
setting into which the bird is placed can be
far more natural in appearance than is possible
with an uncased mount.
Cases can be
free standing or wall mounted and, in my view,
the extra cost is well worth the investment
especially if the subject is a rarer species
or a bird which, though common is not often
come across like a Tawny owl, kestrel or perhaps
a small bird like a Robin.
If you have a
bird that you may like to have mounted in a
case or otherwise then please contact me and
I will be happy to discuss your requirements
and provide you with a quotation for having
it set up.
PLEASE NOTE.
All birds are
protected by law to some degree, even Magpies.
You must ensure that any bird in your possession
has been legally obtained and, as far as possible,
can be proved to be so. You can obtain more
